Stuffies
Stuffed animals are always a great way to use crochet for the little ones. Don't be afraid to try some easy patterns for rabbits, ducks, and chicks. June Gilbank has a selection of Easter animals to crochet up in eyelash yarns. These Gilbank original patterns are only $3.50 each and work up into adorable creatures with fuzzy yarns. The Fuzzy Bunny pattern includes the instructions for Fuzzy chicks also, and the Fuzzy Lambs are sure to bring a smile to your loved ones. The pattern is 'shipped' to you via your email inbox for convenience and gives you the opportunity to get started right away.
E-patterns Central also offers a Flopsy the Bunny pattern that uses worsted weight yarn to make an 8" floppy eared bunny of your color choice. The pattern is only $1.49 to download from their site. Other options include bears, ducks, and lambs in worsted weight yarns that can be found worked up quickly and patterns can be purchased from your local craft store.
Baskets and Candy Holders
Annie's attic is offering a pattern for $7.99 that includes Baskets and Toys to crochet for Easter. Your choice is between making a bunny, chick, or goose. Each basket is made into the form of these creatures with adorable accessories. You can choose to give these as gifts as is or make the matching stuffed animals as well. They also have available a pattern book for Easter purses; each purse is made into an Easter themed shape and make great presents for littler girls.
You can also find a few Rabbit Candy holders on E-Patterns Central for $.99 each. The project looks like just a regular bunny in a little outfit (boy and girl available), but it also holds candy.
Fridgies and Pins
You might not need a pattern for these. Using sport weight yarn or crochet thread you can make little Easter motifs of Easter eggs, Easter Baskets, Bunnies, or other commercial items. Starch the crochet thread project when you are done to ensure it doesn't roll up. Glue a pin backing or a magnet on the back for a quick Easter gift.
Baby Gifts
For that special little boy or girl in your life you can work up a granny square blanket in pastels, make a festive outfit, or even just a few Easter rattles. You can find a variety of free patterns online or ones that you can download that will fit these special needs. Annie's attic is now offering a pattern for car seat blankets; these blankets can be made in any combination of colors and have a 'slit' in the middle that is worked in so you can buckle your child into their seat and keep the blanket in place. You can also find some free patterns for egg covers from Crochet Pattern Central. Some of them are in the shapes of animals and make cute gifts for slightly older kids.
