Once your guests arrive you can offer them a drink. Maybe you only drink soda or a punch on Easter. Perhaps you offer mimosas on Easter. (Orange juice and vodka.) You and your guests can enjoy catching up with each other's lives while the ham is on the grill. Let the children find plastic eggs you may have hidden around the house or if it is decent outdoors, you may have hidden the plastic eggs in your yard. Make sure you count how many eggs you hide so you know if they all were found. Inside of the plastic eggs you can choose to put a nickel, quarter, fifty cent piece or a piece of candy in them. What a fun surprise it will be for each child to open to see what is in the plastic eggs they have found.
If you and your guests are religious you can play Bible Trivia on this holy day. You can also choose to play fun card games. Let everyone take a turn choosing which card game they want to play.
Once your grilled ham is done, you can set out all of the dishes your guests brought over to your home. You may choose to have a formal dinner and set all of the food on the dining room table or you may set the dinner up buffet style.
You and your family can enjoy a divine meal on the evening of Easter.
Grilled Smoky Ham
What you will need:
Ham, preferably sliced 1 to 2 inches thick
Foil pan
Olive oil
To prepare recipe:
Fire up your grill to medium temperature. Spray a foil pan. Cut off any skin on the outer edge of the ham, but leave some fat, slices if they are not cut off yet. Place the ham slices inside of the pan. Gently add a little olive oil to the pan so that the ham is sitting in it. Flip the ham over after 15 minutes so that the other side gets a little oil on it. By putting a little oil onto your ham you will help to keep it moist. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes before putting it on the grill. Once at least 30 minutes has gone by you can place your foil pan onto the grill. Leave the hood open and cook for 6 to 10 minutes on each side so that they are nicely browned.
Always make sure you stay right by the grill when cooking your ham slices or you may end up with dry ham due to overcooking.
