April 4, 2009 marks the beginning of the Easter Egg hunting fun. In Winston-Salem, the Children's Museum is hosting Arthur's Eggstravaganza. Members can begin the hunt from 9 - 10 am on the 4th during a members only hunt. The general public are welcome from 10am - 2pm. The Egg Hunt is free with paid admission or museum membership. While there children can also participate in a number of activities and arts/crafts opportunities.
Heading north into Stokes County, Mount Olive Baptist Church on Highway 66 North is conducting a Community Easter Egg Hunt on April 4th at 10:30 am. Lunch will also be provided at the conclusion of the hunt. Enjoy the views of the Saura mountains as you gather those eggs.
Fast forward to April 11th, and there are more Egg Hunts. The City of Winston-Salem, Recreation and Parks department in conjunction with other sponsoring agencies, is hosting their annual egg hunt event at the LJVM, Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. Attendees should enter through gate 5 off Deacon Boulevard and festivities begin at 9 am. They will have several activities prior to the egg hunts including an Easter Bonnet contest and sunflower planting. Kickoff for the egg hunts will be at 10 am and groups will be divided by age, so the younger children are not competing with 9 and ten year olds for eggs. There is no admission to the festivities.
Also on the 11th, you can head north into Stokes county again to participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Central Park located off Kirby Road. Activities begin at 1:30 pm. Egg hunting and a visit from the Easter Bunny thrills young and old alike.
Back in Forsyth County, The Rural Hall Moravian Church at 7939 Broad Street is holding their Easter Egg Hunt from 2 - 4 pm. Again, there is no charge to attend.
These are just a few of the egg hunt and activities available. Spend time in celebrating Easter with your children this year. There are numerous free events available. Old Salem will have a day full of activities with paid admission on April 11th. See their website for more details. www.oldsalem.org
For other opportunities, search your city and Easter activities online. Of course, the most fun is in hiding eggs in your own back yard. Enjoy hunting eggs!
