Easter Events in Tampa Bay

Easter is an important holiday in Florida, especially in the Tampa area where we live. This year, Easter occurs in the middle of Passover, right after the Strawberry Festival, which ran from March 4 to March 14.

Since quite a few of the local churches get involved with the Festival every year, their Easter service announcements may not be posted yet. You will need to check the Religious section of your local papers or on-line with the links in this article.

This year's opportunities offer family festivals, egg hunts, orchestral events, a cantata, a cross walk, Holy Week services, a musical, a carillon concert, Easter services to sunrise services. These are listed according to the communities that they are located in:

Bradenton:

16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt:

This hunt has become an area tradition, and will be available again this year. This event boasts a 36,000 count Easter egg hunt for your children who are from 8 and younger.

Your children can also enjoy carnival games, bounce houses and an inflatable slide. Face painting for a small charge, will also be offered. You can also take pictures of your child with the Easter Bunny. There will also be various concessions. Admission is free.

Clearwater:

Clearwater Easter Egg-Stravaganza:

The fun will include games, crafts, activities, face painting, balloon twisters and prizes. you can decorate your own cupcake, hunt for eggs, or find that perfect Easter dress. There's plenty to choose from.

10 percent discounts are being offered all weekend, so you can stock up on last minute Easter supplies or eat at one of the restaurants in Northwood Plaza.

Countryside Recreation Center's Open House and Easter Eggstravaganza:

This is a combination open house and Easter celebration open to all ages. The activities are including an egg hunt with staggered times for the different age groups, carnival games, Touch-A-Truck, a blood drive and contractor demonstrations. Snacks and drinks will be available.

Church of the Palms in partnership with Sarasota County Parks and Recreation are hosting an free annual Easter Egg hunt for families with children from Pre-k to elementary age. There will be games, crafts and refreshments. Bring your own basket.

There will be potato sack races, an Easter egg hunt, a petting zoo, a carnival and pony rides. There will also be a rock concert from 12:00 noon to 7:00pm, with the best of the local Christian youth bands playing. This will benefit Agape Flights which are serving Haiti.

Admission is $5 for anyone over 12. Those younger are free.
