Easter Fingerplays for Pre-School Children

Act Out Easter Fingerplays with Your Kids

Karen Curley
Fingerplay songs are an ideal way to experience literacy fun with children. Toddlers and pre-schoolers love participating and acting out their favorite songs or poems. Not only are Easter fingerplays fun for kids, the fingerplay actions emphasize fine motor skills, listening skills, comprehension, and understanding directions.

Down at the Egg Hunt (Sung to: Down by the Station)

Down at the egg hunt
Early Easter morning (raise hands for the rising sun)
See the little bunny rabbits (hop like rabbits)
Hopping all around.
See the smiling children (give big smiles)
find all the Easter eggs (pretend to find all the eggs)
Happy Easter
Home they go. (Carry baskets out of the room)

Down at the egg hunt
Early Easter morning (raise hands for the rising sun)
See the colored Easter eggs (put hand above eyes and search for eggs)
Hidden in the grass
Waiting to be picked up
By children's tiny hands (hands clench opened and closed picking up eggs)
Happy Easter
Home they go. (carry baskets out of the room)

See the Easter Bunny
Give out all the baskets (one child is the bunny giving out baskets)
Happy Easter
Home they go. (carry baskets out of the room)
Happy Easter
Home they go.

White and Furry Bunny (Sung to: Itsy Bitsy Spider)

The white and furry bunny
Hopped up the bunny trail (Hop around the room)
Out jumped the gray wolf (one person is the wolf and jump in front of the bunny)
And made the bunny wail. (wail out loud)
Wolf smiled and said (the wolf smiles, wishing bunny Happy Easter)
Happy Easter fuzzy one
And the white and furry bunny (Everyone has fun)
Enjoyed some Easter fun.

Easter Bunny Look Look (Sung to: Little Bunny Foo Foo)

Paint all those Easter eggs (pretend to paint eggs)
Fill up all the baskets (use hand motions of picking up eggs, filling a basket)
And bring them to the children. (Pretend to hand baskets to each other)

Off hopped the bunny and heard (child hops away then stops)
Easter Bunny Look Look
The eggs spilled in the tall grass (look on the floor at the spilled eggs)
Quick, Fill up the baskets (quickly pretend to pick up the eggs)
And bring them to the children (quickly hand out the baskets)
You don't have much time left

The sun is coming up
