Easter Food Ideas and the Games You'll Remember with Your Children
Easter Eggs, Candy and Holiday Food Ideas
One of the best things about Easter are the traditions like Easter eggs and candy. Here are some ideas on how to make Easter eggs in a new way, some candy ideas and where to go to get them.
Easter egg ideas
"Whose prize will you get?"
Well, there is always the traditional way. Get Easter egg coloring at the craft shop or grocery store along with regular eggs. Make hard-boiled eggs and color the eggs according the package instructions.
But here's the good part, get stickers from the grocery store that grade teachers usually put on their students' homework papers like stars or hearts. Decorate the eggs with those and they'll look a little different. Have everyone in the household decorate them in their own way.
Then you can play the game of "Whose egg is whose?" when you search for eggs around your house. Each eggmaker can have a different prize to give when their eggs are found. The person with the most eggs from a particular eggmaker gets that prize. Try it, it's like playing the "White Elephant" game at Christmas.
Plastic Easter eggs
If you're not into making real Easter eggs, get plastic ones. They're definitely around at the 99 cent store. You can fill them with whatever you like (candy, mock gifts, etc.) and play the same Easter egg hunt game as usual. Sometimes the plastic eggs come with their own prizes inside but you can always make it specific for your own family.
Candy Eggs
You don't have to play the Easter egg hunt with these. In fact, it's probably best if you don't unless you play it inside. You don't want ants or animals getting to your eggs first. Even inside be careful of the dog or cat getting into your chocolate. You can find candy Easter eggs at the grocery store or the 99 cent store along with many other kinds of Easter candies. With these you can simply make Easter egg baskets with your family for decoration and for gift opening.
Scrambled Eggs
If you want to try something fun and new, you can try colored scrambled eggs. Use the same food coloring you would to make the hard-boiled Easter eggs. On Easter Sunday using just a drop of color in your fresh eggs, scramble those eggs up in the frying pan. You can make them your household's favorite colors as a special treat.
Other games
Candyland
If you're not that all into the regular Easter games, that's fine. If your family likes to play cards or board games and you still want to celebrate Easter, you can use candy for antes or board games prizes. For Candyland, use actual candy. Give quantities to different candies for card games. Play Monopoly with edible cars and people and prizes. Board games with family isn't always fun but at least you can try something new and see if it works.
Forget Eggs and Candy
For those health nuts out there or just for those people who don't like eggs nor do they have a sweet tooth, you can always use other products in all of these games or pick another game to play. Using nuts and berries or fruits is always a good idea on holiday like this. You can show your children that not all fun ends with cavities. Hide some apples or oranges in the backyard. Play with real nuts and berries in your board games. Put food coloring in your soy milk for fun.
Whatever food you choose to have fun with whether it be eggs, candy or soymilk, take these games into consideration. Not only are they fun for the children but they can be fun for a group of adults, taking it back to the old days when you used to have fun too.
Either way, play as many games with your children or your friends on Easter as possible. Make it fun and fresh and new. They'll remember it and I'm certain you will as well.
