Easter Greeting Card Messages

Juliet Cook
If you will be sending out some handmade or store bought greeting cards to family or friends this Easter, how do you decide what to write inside those cards? What can you say to make your greeting card message more personal, memorable, and original than just a plain old 'Happy Easter!'?

I think the most important suggestion to keep in mind is to be yourself, be authentic, and cater your Easter greeting card message to its intended recipient.

One good way to avoid penning a generic greeting card cliché is to think about a special Easter memory that you and your Easter greeting card recipient have in common, an amusing Easter anecdote that will especially appeal to your card recipient's sense of humor, or a seasonal suggestion that meshes well with your card recipient's interests.

If your Easter greeting card recipient is a religious person, then an especially selected Bible verse might be a nice touch, either in and of itself or as a starting point for a longer personal message that touches upon the importance of one's faith or spirituality during this season.

If your Easter greeting card recipient is a more secular sort of person, then some unique Easter greeting card message ideas include a special candy recommendation or a spring gardening suggestion or maybe even a delicious spring recipe, depending upon your Easter greeting card recipient's interests.

Check out the delicious Cranberry Orange Streusel Bread recipe (linked below) for one extra-yummy springtime recipe idea that might hold the perfect appeal.

As for the idea of a spring gardening suggestion, did you know that there are greeting cards created with special paper that has real flower seeds implanted into the paper fibers, so that after a greeting card recipient reads your Easter message and enjoys the card for a while, then they can actually plant those seeds and gain a whole new level of longer lasting enjoyment?

Check out some nifty plant-able cards from etsy.com ('your place to buy & sell all things handmade') in the Claudia's Creation's shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5329141), specializing in handmade recycled paper products and the Greetings that Grow shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6771509) , billing itself as "the original and unique 2-in-1 plantable cards and gifts that allow you to Keep the Print and Plant the Paper™! All you have to do is add water, sunshine and ♥, then watch your paper grow!" Sounds like a delightfully unique Easter greeting card to me!

I am also a big poetry lover, so I think a snippet of poetry, whether original or culled from the words of a favorite poet, would make a wonderful addition to an Easter greeting card.

Happy Easter!
