Easter: The King on a Cross

Believe it or Not . . . He Did it for You

Debby Alten
They bound Him
They led Him away
His cup was bitter
That fateful day

"Are you King of the Jews?"
"Yes," He replied.
Crucify
Is what they cried

They struck his head
On bended knee
They mocked and spat
His throne, a tree

Save yourself
And we'll believe
For us You cry
For us You grieve?

The hammer fell
His flesh they tore
His royal blood
Spilt evermore

When Jesus died
Darkness rose
Earth shook
The dead exposed

At dawn upon that awestruck day
He rose from death, your debt to pay
When Mary came, the angel cried
Go tell the world, for them He died!

What a gifted writer you are Debby. Such an inspiration to me and a powerful testimony to the grace and love of our Lord who took our penalty so that we could live again...forever. Well done. :-)

Amen. I think few people realize what a gruesome, torturous death crucifixion was. And he could have stepped away from that cross and chose not to so that we could be saved. What greater love can any man have for us than the love of Jesus?

Excellent, Debby. No greater truth was ever written.

Debby, this is so special & think I need to read this to my Sunday school class. Your work here shows your gift and that you are a God-send my friend to me and to AC. Well done indeed. This is a masterpiece. I wish I had as good of a gift as you. Wow, blessing to you. :-)
