If you are looking for a break from the norm this Easter Sunday, feel free to tear a page from my family cookbook. Here's what's for dinner; Slow-Roasted Brisket, Spanish- Rice, Potato Salad, Beans, and flour tortillas. Dessert is never as traditional, as we like to search for and try out new recipes. This year we are baking Monkey Bread -which we have never had, but hear it's to die for- and to appease my brother's finicky taste buds I am presenting plain cheesecake in tart form.
Creating an interesting centerpiece for Easter Sunday is probably the most fun for me due to my high interest in craft stores and entertaining websites, though this year Easter seemed to sneek up on me and due to time constraints I found my self in Wal- Mart at the last possible moment. This was not a negative experience in the least, because I discovered edible Easter Basket Grass! Yes, I was as excited as you are confused. I am indeed speaking of grass (or nest) shaped candy. It's cute, colorful and I am convinced it will not go to waste. I plan to fill it with jelly- bean eggs and place it in the center of the dinner table.
As assumed, Easter Sunday in my home is interesting, because it's a change from the norm, but it's fun and festive. So, think outside of the box and have Easter San Antonio Style this year and you won't be disappointed.
