stayed up late to be the rabbit
all these years it's now a habit
all these years it's now a habit
hid the eggs out in the grass
how'd they find them all so fast
went to church to hear the priest
then back home for Easter feast
took a nap before bedtime
struggle for a word to rhyme
dishes done and kids in bed
nightime stores have been read
now i lay me down to sleep
i pray the Lord our souls he'll keep
keep us safe this Easter night
wake us in the morning light
and then again Amen i say
thank you Lord for this day
