Easter Traditions for the Entire Family

Easter is a festival that calls for celebration and it is also a time to celebrate re-birth. In addition, Easter celebrates the beginning of spring, so the happy mood all around is accentuated even further. Easter is a holiday that's associated with a host of traditions. A few Easter traditions that you and your family can start are listed below and if you follow these, there is a no way you won't enjoy yourself!

An Easter tradition for you and your family to start can include exploring the various symbols that are associated with the holiday. With many symbols like the Easter Bunny, Easter Eggs, Hot Cross Buns, and many more linked with Easter, it may be fun to know where exactly the origins of these Easter symbols and traditions lay. Once you discover these meanings, you can celebrate them by including them in decorations or crafts.

Bunnies have long been associated with Easter. The edible, sweet small bunnies with their big ears have been well loved over the years. An Easter tradition that you and your family can start is making these bunnies at home. Folks generally purchase the Easter bunnies from stores, but a fun way to usher in Easter can be to make the bunnies at home. Make it an Easter traditions that you and your family can start and celebrate working together and thereby spending more time together on the happy occasion of Easter. Simply, buy several rabbit shaped molds and pour melted chocolate into them. Once they dry, you will have a delicious treat. Apart from the bunnies, the family can also engage in preparing the yummy Easter eggs and hot cross buns too.

Celebrating the holidays leading up to the holy occasion of Easter can also be a good tradition that you and your family can start. There are a number of holy festivals that lead up to Easter. Lent, which is the 46 days leading up to Easter, begins with Ash Wednesday, the day kept aside for prayers and fasting in remorse for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. However, the day just before Ash Wednesday is Shrove Tuesday, the day for carnivals and celebration. The Sunday just before Easter is celebrated as Palm Sunday, marking the victorious entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem when people placed palms near his feet. Then comes Holy Thursday, and final Good Friday is commemorated. Easter traditions that you and your family can start include observing these festivals and holidays.

Another fun Easter tradition that you and your family can start is making and sending beautifully decorated Easter cards to your near and dear ones. Sending and receiving cards on Easter has always been a popular Easter tradition with most people. So this year, you and your family can also engage in making Easter cards at home. This will indeed be a fun Easter traditions that you and your family can start, if not already started.

Last, but by no means least, the feast on Easter Sunday is definitely an Easter tradition that you and your family can start. Easter Sunday is celebrated around the world as the day on which Jesus Christ rose back to life after being crucified. Christians all over the world celebrate the day by going to church in the morning and then enjoying a happy feast in the afternoon. The Easter feast is a much looked-forward-to event and a family tradition too. So if you don't have the feast every year on this holy occasion, this is most certainly an Easter tradition that you and your family can start.
