Easter Traditions in the Urban City
A Look at the Most Popular Easter Traditions in Our Modern Society
Many citizens that live in the city buy new clothing to celebrate Easter. These items may be special dresses or suits. They may also include new clothes that can be worn every day. I do not see any significance in buying new clothes because the Easter holiday is near. However, Easter is a holiday in which many African American citizens purchase new clothing. This is a waste of money and time.
There is no reason to purchase new outfits if you already have sturdy clothing in the closet at home. Easter has become somewhat of a fashion frenzy over the years in urban cities. It makes me wonder if anyone in the city knows what Easter is really about. Everyone does not buy clothes for the sake of having something new to wear. There are some parents who dress their kids up nicely to spend time at church and take pictures. This is an acceptable Easter tradition. It does not put shopping above the purpose of this holiday.
Photos
Easter means new photos for many people in urban cities. It is a great time to send pictures to family members and friends. This is usually done among parents who want to show the growth of their child to relatives whom they may not have visited in a long time. Easter is one of the top holidays where people take a lot of professional photos. In urban cities, the local malls are packed with citizens who want new photo packages.
Movies
One of the traditions that are less relevant to the purpose of Easter is going to the movies. I cannot understand why it is so important for urban city residents to go and watch the latest Hollywood flick on Easter. This urban city tradition amazes me every year. Local movie theaters are jam packed with teenagers and young adults. This Easter tradition has developed so rapidly that it will be no surprise to see box office receipts generate millions of dollars throughout the holiday.
Church
Many of the older residents attend church services on Easter. There are numerous churches in urban cities that have special holiday services and events. Attending church is one of the greatest Easter traditions that are practiced in urban cities. Some people who do not attend church services on a regular basis choose to attend during the holiday. It is a great way to celebrate Easter. This is a tradition that reveals what Easter is all about.

Post a CommentThe church I go to has an Easter Production at this time a year. Kind of combines the going to the movies and going to church thing.
