In Mark 10: 33,34 Jesus accurately predicted the events of Easter Week. Jesus said, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him; and the third day he shall rise again."
After Easter week the Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1: 23, that "We preach Christ crucified." Paul is telling us here that Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins. Now we can be right with God and Jesus offers us eternal Life as a gift.
Luke 14: Luke 14:14 tells us what will happen if we accept this gift. "And thou shalt be blessed;...for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just." On the last day you will be resurrected and taken into Heaven to be with Jesus.
Easter Week is for You
We hear the Easter story once a year, and every year, and we know what is all about. This year let us learn a little bit more. This year let us realize that Easter Week is for you, and you need to make a decision about it.
We know that Easter is for spending time with your family and worshiping God. And we know what happened on Easter Week. Jesus was condemned, and on Good Friday, Jesus was crucified on the cross, and on Saturday, He rested in the grave. On Sunday, He was resurrected from the grave. We know what happened and we go through the motions every year, but this year let us do something different and better. Let us take a look at what these events actually mean in our Spiritual Lives.
The first issue to be considered is why He was condemned and crucified. These things happened as He was carrying the weight of the world's sins on His shoulders. He died on Good Friday to pay the penalty for our sins. so that we can be forgiven and have eternal life. He was resurrected on Easter Sunday and went back to His rightful place in Heaven. Now, He offers eternal life to all who believe in Him.
You probably have heard this story countless times. This year let us come to the conclusion that Easter Week is about you, as He died and was resurrected for you personally. He knew you before the foundation of the earth, before He even created Adam and Eve. He knew you personally and He knows more about you than you know yourself. You are not a footnote in history, and you were specifically created to live forever in His Kingdom. He offers you eternal life as a gift, and with any gift you must make a decision, a decision to accept or reject the gift. This year. please make a decision to believe in Jesus and accept the gift of eternal life. Believe that He died for your sins and make a conscious decision to follow Him in everything you do in life.
