Eastern Tech: A School like No Other

Eastern Technical High School is a public school located in Essex, Baltimore County, Maryland. It is a Maryland Blue Ribbon School, A New American High School, and has been in operation since 1970. The school was originally called Eastern Vocational Technical High School but has since dropped the vocational part of its name. You must apply to the school to attend it. The school has a total of ten career majors that you may select from to study in after your freshman year. The first year of attending the school, all students are cycled through nine of the ten career majors except for those students in the Engineering program. Engineering students take their career major for all four years of school. The career majors that you can choose from include Allied Health, Automotive, Business Administration, Construction, Culinary Arts and Management, Computer Aided Drafted and Design, Engineering, Information Technology, Law Related Careers, Multimedia Communications, and Teacher Education Academy.

In addition to taking career major classes, students also take regular coursework in English, math, science, foreign language, and social studies. Students take 7 credits a year, including yearlong classes and semester classes. During the senior year, students are able to have internships outside of school if their schedule permits it. The teaching staff on hand at Eastern Tech varies in educational background and specialty. You can be sure that your student will obtain the best education available to them at no cost to you.

The school also has numerous clubs that students participate in the second Thursday of every month. Students sign up for a club at the beginning of the year or for a study hall. Some of the clubs include but are not limited too, Theatre, Sports, Physics, Honor Society, Psychology, and Networking. Also available to students are numerous junior varsity and varsity sports including baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey, basketball, and more.

Every year, the school holds a homecoming dance in the schools main gym. Junior and Senior prom are also held each year with Junior prom at the school and Senior prom off of the campus. Fundraising events throughout the year help to raise money for each graduating class so that the cost of tickets to the dances is minimal. Fundraising events include car washes, car shows, candy sales, and other product sales.
