Step 1
Apply a clear base coat. I used to skip this important step when painting my fingernails and toenails because I thought it would save me time. I came to realize that in the long run, using a base coat saves time by allowing the colored polish to go on smoothly. In addition, the base coat allows polish to be removed easily with nail polish remover. The other great thing about the base coat is that it prevents stained nails, making a transformation from tiger print to zebra print a breeze.
Step 2
For tiger print nails, apply a coat of orange nail polish, such as the Courtney Orange by Sinful Colors. For zebra print nails, apply a coat of silver or white polish. I used Out of This World by Sinful Colors, which is a soft silver. Let the colored polish dry completely before moving to step three.
Step 3
Use a black crackle nail polish over the orange, silver or white nail polish. Apply the black crackle in one light and quick coat. The black crackle dries fairly quick, creating a crackle effect similar to that of zebra or tiger stripes.
Step 4
After the crackle nail polish dries completely, apply a clear top coat. The top coat is another step I used to skip, thinking I was saving time and money. I realized that applying the top coat not only adds shine to the polish, it also keeps my polish from peeling or chipping as quickly as it would without the final coat.
That's it. Four simple steps to achieve beautiful zebra and tiger print nails. To match your zebra print nails with great clothing and accessories, read my article, "Keep Dry While Looking Chic: Zebra Print Style."

This is so sweet! I have to try it! I may have to give up my long nails though! I am considering playing the guitar again! Even though Dolly Parton looks like she is doing it on TV, one cannot play the guitar with long nails! LOL This means that in order for my fingertips NOT to be in constant pain I will need to develop calluses...spelling??? You have so many imaginative ideas!
