Easy Apple Pie Dessert Recipe Tips

A small amount of whipped cream or caramel sauce makes a tasty addition to both recipes.

Vanilla ice cream is a classic choice, but also consider other flavors, such as dulce de leche, for a memorable flavor combination.

Canned apple pie filling is soft enough to eat with a spoon, but you may want to coarsely cut the apple slices before assembling the desserts.

For a more authentic piecrust flavor, skip the graham crackers and use shortbread cookies, such as Pepperidge Farm Chessman, instead. The rich, buttery taste of shortbread cookies is a close substitute for homemade piecrust. Try gingersnaps for a burst of spicy flavor.

Make a caramel apple sundae by layering ice cream, warm caramel sauce and chopped peanuts to mimic the coating on a caramel apple.
