#1. What You'll Need
(A) 12 2x4 lumber, 11.5 inches long (should be the same width as the shelves)
(B) 6 wood shelving, 11.5 inches wide
(C) 4 2x4 lumber, 67 inches long
(D) 5 2x4 lumber, 20 inches long (should match the length of your shelves)
#2. Build the Garage Storage Unit Frame
Step 1: Lay a 67 inch long plank (C) on its 4 inch side. Make a mark 5 inches from the bottom. Then nail one 2x4 lumber piece (A) just over the line, driving the nails into the piece's 2 inch side and creating a 45 degree angle between the two pieces. If you were to lift the long piece now, it will be vertical, and the short one will be horizontal, with the 4 inch side of the small piece facing up.
Step 2: Nail a second (A) piece into (C) 10 inches above the first. Continue for a total of 6 (A) pieces.
Step 3: Nail the corresponding 67 inch long plank (C) opposite the first to enclose the (A) pieces in a frame.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 through 3 to build the second side of the garage storage unit frame.
Step 5: Connect the two sections of the garage storage unit frame using the (D) pieces. Make sure to rest them with the 4 inch side facing you, so the 2 inch sides of the (D) pieces will meet the 2 inch side of the (C)pieces.
Step 5: Slip the shelves (B) into the garage storage unit frame you built. The shelves will rest on the 4 inch sides of the (A) pieces.
