Round Floral Wedding Cake
To make this wedding cake design you will need three different sized round cake pans. Once the cakes are baked, let them cool. Cover a thin piece of wood with tin foil. Make sure this piece of wood is slightly larger than the biggest cake. You could also use a cardboard cake board. Cover the top of the foil with a lace paper doily. Place the largest round cake on the center of the board. Frost the cake with your choice of frosting.
When you are done frosting the bottom layer, place three to four toothpicks evenly spaced in the center of the cake. Make sure that the toothpicks are sticking only halfway into the cake. Carefully place the next largest cake on the center, top of the bottom layer. The toothpicks will help the cake to stay in place. Frost this next section of the cake. Place toothpicks evenly spaced in the center, and halfway into the cake. Place the smallest round cake on the top, center of the middle layer. Frost the top layer of the cake. You can add as many layers as you would like following this pattern.
Once the wedding cake is completely frosted, it is time to decorate. Place some silk flowers at the top of the wedding cake, and sporadically around each layer of the cake. Glue a couple flowers on the lace board holding the wedding cake. You can also use real flowers for this design. If using real flowers, place them on the cake the day of the wedding.
Diamond Monogrammed Cake
This wedding cake design is simple but elegant. To make a diamond monogrammed cake you will need two different sized square cake pans. Once the cakes are baked, let them cool. Cover a thin piece of wood or cardboard cake board with tin foil. Place a gold or silver paper doily on top of the tin foil. Place the first square cake on the board so that the corners point top to bottom, and side by side. It will look like the shape of a diamond.
Frost this cake in your choice of frosting. Place toothpicks sticking halfway into the center of the cake. Turn the remaining square cake so that it is diamond shaped on the center, top of the bottom layer. Frost the top layer of the wedding cake. Using a frosting gel in your choice of color, write your initials on the top, center of the first layer of the wedding cake. Choose a tube of frosting in the same color as the gel. Make a scallop design around the edges of each diamond cake layer.
Roses and Glitter Heart-Shaped Cake Design
This wedding cake design is stunning. For this cake design you will need a large heart cake pan and three cake pedestals that are different heights. You will need to make three heart cakes in your choice of flavor. Place a paper lace doily on the top of each pedestal. When your first heart cake is baked, let it cool. Place this cake on your first cake pedestal. Begin baking the second heart cake.
Frost the first heart cake with your choice of frosting. Sprinkle the cake with edible glitter. Place a large pre-made gum paste rose on the center of heart. Wrap lace ribbon around the edges of the heart. Repeat these steps for the remaining two heart cakes. Display these cakes so that the highest cake is setup first, then the second highest, and then the smallest for a cascading design.
Powdered Lace and Fruit Wedding Cake
This is an inexpensive and striking, one-layered wedding cake design. This is a great wedding cake design for a casual or small wedding. Make a sheet cake in your choice of flavor. A chocolate cake works best for this design. Place a large doily on the top of the cake. Choose a doily that covers as much of the cake as possible. Carefully sprinkle powdered sugar on the top of the doily. Carefully remove the doily. You should have a beautiful lace design on the top of the wedding cake. Place a few pieces of fruit in the center, and around the outer edges of the wedding cake.
Pie Cake Design
This is a great wedding cake design for those who don't like cake. Make a few dozen mini pies with various fillings. Make a fancy design for the top of each pie using mini cookie cutters. Use a different design for each type of pie filling. Place pies on a three tiered cake plate. Weave green vines throughout the pies. Tie a beautiful white bow at the top of the first tier.
