Easy Candle Making Gift Idea

Leveling Truth
If you need a quick and easy candle-making gift idea, this is sure to please, and it is a candle craft idea that smells great, too! This simple craft is perfect for housewarming gifts, hostess gifts, guest bathrooms or just a special way to tell a good friend that you are thinking of them.

All you need for this quick gift is a candle, a bunch of cinnamon sticks, glue, and some pretty ribbon.

First, select a 5 oz candle in a plain round glass votive. If you prefer, you can make your own candle or choose a smaller sized candle or even a larger sized candle.

When I'm in a hurry and I want to save myself time, I like to use the Home Trends candles at Wal-Mart. The candles cost between $1.00 and $5.00, which depends on the size candle you choose. The 5 oz candles are under $3.00 and are the perfect gift-giving size. I really like Hazelnut Cream, Cinnamon Toast, or French Vanilla and for gifts these scents are my favorites. Apple, Apple Cinnamon, or Pumpkin are also nice scents, especially if the gift is for a Thanksgiving hostess.

Choose long cinnamon sticks that you can then cut to the desired size. Cut the cinnamon sticks so they just reach the top of the candle.

The rest is quite simple. Glue the cinnamon sticks around the entire glass candleholder. Aleene's Original Tacky Glue or other craft glue works great or you can use a hot glue gun if you prefer. Wait until the glue dries and then tie a ribbon around the sticks and the candle.

Cinnamon sticks can be expensive, but here's a little secret. Lots of retail stores sell decorative cinnamon sticks in bunches for the winter holidays. Look for these cinnamon sticks during after Christmas sales and you can stock up on bunches very inexpensively! If $4.00 for a bunch of cinnamon sticks makes you cringe, than 75% off after Christmas is a great deal that you'll want to make sure you stock up on!

These candles make simple and beautiful gifts that smell delicious! When the candle is lit, the warmth from the candle makes the aroma of cinnamon float through the air too! Your friends will think you spent a fortune at some exquisite gift shop, and you won't have to say otherwise unless you want to! Keep a few on hand to give as gifts throughout the year as they can easily be more personalized if you know the recipient's favorite scent or favorite color.
