You will need a full deck of playing cards, a flat surface and a willing participant. Practice this trick at least 10 times before you perform it. After you successfully perform this trick you will have more willing participants that you can count.
First, to perform this easy card trick, you will need a full deck of cards, if you can find the Jokers go ahead and take them out of the deck, it won't mess you up but you want cards that aren't the same when you first start to perform this trick. After you master the technique you can leave the Jokers in and watch your friends brains try and figure out how you found their card. You can shuffle your cards at first if it's a new deck or to really amaze your audience, don't shuffle. The cards don't really matter as much as how they are placed.
The reason this trick is considered easy is because you are given the answer by your participant.
1. Start by placing the cards out, face up. Do this in three rows of three cards each. Lay the remaining cards in the deck face down away from you. Ask your participant to memorize a card from the nine showing. Then with your hand touching the left side of the row ask them if their card is in row 1, 2 or 3, touch the table as you do this, it will help them to focus and you to remember what row they say their card is in.
2. Then pick up the cards just as you placed them down. If you pick them up in any other order the trick will not work. Example: Card 1, 2 and 3 should be picked up placing card two under card one and card three under card two. Do this for all three rows. Be sure to remember which row their card was in, it's the key to performing the trick.
3. Now the fun part. Place the cards face up as before but now you will put them in three columns instead of three rows. After you have laid out all the cards ask your participant which row their card is in now. They will tell you row 1, 2 or 3. This is where you use their first answer. If their card was in row 3 and now its in row 3, pick the last card in column 3. If their card was in row 2 and now its in row 2, pick card number 2 in column 2.
Example:
5 2 9 Card 10 is chosen, it's in row 2. Now pick up the cards in the same order
6 10 3 as you placed them down.
8 7 4
Now place the cards in columns of three.
5 6 8
2 10 7
9 3 4
Ask the participant which row their card is in now. They will say row 2, go to column two and choose the second card. This is their card. It works every time; just remember which row they say in the beginning of the trick, this will help you to know which column to choose and which card to pick.
Perform this easy card trick anytime and with any kind of card deck.
