Choose a Theme or Various Themes for Rooms

Are looking to add an easy festive style to your home without buying all those gaudy store decoration? Here are a few ideas that will give your home a special holiday feel without looking tacky.

Carefully choose the places you want to put decorations. Don't put something on each wall, counter, or empty space.

Take a tray or basket. In fact, take about 4 or more. Place either one color Christmas balls in each or several colors if you choose. Put in a few evergreens and place one in a convenient place in each room. Even one on the toilet makes the bathroom look decorative.

On the table cloth you can sew or pin a ball to each corner. If you have some small Christmas balls you can also do this to cloth napkins. You will find other spots that a small Christmas ball will look great. Just keep looking.

Use red and green soap at every sink. This is simple and a must do during the holiday. Don't buy anything expensive. Red and green alone is all that is needed.

Use fruits and vegetables in a basket with a holiday pattern cloth wrapped around it. Mix various fruits and use some that are only available during the holiday. People like unusual fruits and vegetables so throw some in and you will get people talking about the centerpiece. It's great for the holiday, but also edible once it is over.

Pine branches placed in a crock or tin always adds a nice touch. You can wrap a red ribbon either around the tin or around a branch. If you have various sizes, you can put them around the room. Containers themselves add a special feel. You can use all of them in the same pattern or look for cheap ones that are different at a Goodwill.

Be sure to put evergreens and berries in your flowerboxes. It is easy to do and just makes them look so special. It's nice to enter a house that looks festive.

If you collect Santa Claus's or angels or bells or ribbons or anything Christmas related, they do not just have to be on the Christmas tree. Why not put various sizes in a basket or bowl to use as a decoration throughout the house. Base your holiday around the theme and decorate the whole house using your collection.

Candles always set a mood. If you are having a party, decorate a table with candles of various sizes. Decorate the candles with holly. Once you see them. you will find a nice design that looks stunning. It is cheap and easy to do.
Think of all the things you can do with pinecones. Pinecones are cheap and easy to use. Place some with holly on your fireplace, your tree, in a basket or bowl, around a table or shelf. Pinecones are all about the holidays. Be creative and you may find it makes great theme for the holiday. If you like, you can also paint them gold or silver.

These are just a few ideas. It doesn't take a lot of money to make the holiday seasons special. Just a little bit of ingenuity.
