Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit: America's Greatest Snack!

Paul Bright
As I reflect on my life during my vacation-at-home days, it struck me that it doesn't take much to make me happy. Sometimes it is a good laugh at the Three Stooges, or a nice, cold beverage after a long day working in the yard, or even my kids making faces at me while I try to drive. However, there is one thing that pleases me more than most anything else and I have learned to fall in love with it again: Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit.

Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit. How is this not America's official greatest snack of all time? This is a combination that no tongue should be spared of. The taste, the textures, the salt...it is almost too phenomenal to describe, especially for a man. I liken it to the first day you ever tasted chocolate. Can you think of that day? Remember when you were a child and someone handed you something dark brown, sticky, and probably shaped like a flower or a bunny? Remember when you put it in your mouth and the cocoa and sugar solid suddenly turned into a syrupy liquid and bathed your tongue in sweet ecstasy?

That is what Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit is like when you first eat it together, except replace "sweet" with "salty". And "dark brown" with "light brown and yellow". And...well, you get the picture.

If you are now tempted to have some Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit, you must know the two parts separately before you enjoy them as a whole. Let's start with Easy Cheese. Easy Cheese is made by Kraft and comes in a can much like silly spray, but with cheese. You can get Easy Cheese in three different flavors: American, Sharp or Cheddar. I recommend American because you don't want to go overboard with the tangy saltiness of the snack.

Despite the sounds of a horrible dairy product (cheese in a can is hardly inviting), Easy Cheese is remarkably not that bad for you. If you take a quick scan of the ingredients, the first five are milk, water, whey protein concentrate, whey, and canola oil. It is 90 calories per serving, but it takes about 4 teaspoons to make one serving. That is a whole lot of cheese! But you only need about a ΒΌ of a teaspoon for each cracker sandwich.

Speaking of crackers, let's move onto the alpha and omega of this snack: Chicken in a Biskit. I'm not going to pretend there is more to this snack than it sounds: it is a crunchy, salty cracker that is flavored like chicken broth. Don't even ask about the health benefits (or lack thereof). You can see for yourself right here. The best benefit is that it takes about 20 crackers to make one serving which adds up to only 160 calories. Of course that is like saying doughnuts are fat free in the middle.

Now that you know the two entities, you must properly learn to enjoy Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit. There are really two ways to eat this delicious treat. First, you can make the sandwich (as seen in the picture). Turn one cracker with the flat side up, squeeze a line of Easy Cheese around the perimeter of the cracker, and put another cracker on top of that flat side down.

The second way (that should only be done in private) is to take about three crackers, shove them in your mouth, eat them halfway and then squeeze about one second's worth of Easy Cheese into your pie hole. This way is infinitely more fun, but you never, EVER want to watch someone else eat like this. Especially a child. You will ruin the moment.

So if you haven't already had the pleasure of Easy Cheese and Chicken in a Biskit go out and buy one of each and enjoy. If you have, spread the word and spread the Easy Cheese!
