There are plenty of Christmas craft decorations for children that are easy. The holidays are a wonderful time of year, but often parents are busy preparing for the festivities. Who has time to figure out an easy Christmas craft decoration for their kids that requires few materials and little expense. Read on for a great idea for a Christmas craft that will delight your children and doesn't take much planning or effort!

CHRISTMAS NECKLACE

Materials Needed:

Beads (assortment of Christmas colors)

Macaroni (uncooked)

Paint (Christmas colors)

String (enough to make a necklace)

Directions:

Have your kids paint the uncooked macaroni with the colors of their choice. Red, green, gold and silver are great choices if they wish to make a Christmas necklace. When finished painting, let the macaroni completely dry.

Next, cut a piece of string long enough to make a necklace. Have your children arrange the macaroni and beads on the string in a pattern of their choice. For instance, an example of a pattern would be to place 3 beads, then 1 piece of macaroni, 3 more beads, 1 more macaroni, etc. Or your kids might like a lot of beads with only a few pieces of macaroni or vice versa. My daughter once used all beads with only 3 pieces of macaroni in the middle of the beads right next to each other.

When the kids are satisfied with the arrangement on the string, simply tie the 2 ends together and the project is finished. Just shorten the piece of string for a shorter necklace and use a longer piece for a longer necklace.

A variation on this Christmas craft decoration would be to use something other than string that has color. For instance, a piece of green, thin ribbon or a piece of red yarn. Using a material with color rather than plain white string will add a whole new Christmas feel to this easy craft.
