Easy Christmas Craft Ideas for Children

Make the Christmas holidays memorable for your children! Get them away from the TV and video games and get them into the Christmas spirit by making homemade Christmas crafts. Watch their eyes light up when they have finished something that you can use as a Christmas decoration or ornament! Following is a list of easy Christmas crafts that I'm sure your kids will enjoy.

Stockings: Instead of buying a Christmas stocking that is already decorated, why not buy a plain one with no decoration on it? All your kids need are colored glue and some glitter. They can create pictures of Christmas trees, reindeer, ornaments, stars, etc. on the stocking. And they can write their own names on their own stockings. What a great way to get their creative juices flowing.

Popcorn strings: This is a great craft for children because it's so easy! All you have to do is pop a bag of popcorn and then have the kids thread the popcorn with a needle. Make sure you give them plastic needles which are available in craft stores and be sure to supervise them during this craft. When they are done stringing the popcorn, you can hang it on the Christmas tree like garland or you can wrap it around stair bannisters or hang it on walls.

Christmas cards: It doesn't get much easier. Use a piece of paper. An average size would be 8 x 10, but you can use a larger or smaller piece. Just fold the page in half and the kids can make and decorate the card any way they want. For added fun, glitter or colored glue or maybe some uncooked macaroni can be used and glued to the card. What is more special than having your child give you a homemade Christmas card.

Beaded ornaments: Check this out! All you will need are some pipe cleaners and some colored beads. Just add beads to the pipe cleaner, then form the pipe cleaner into a circle. Twist the ends of the pipe cleaner together to secure the circle, leaving a little excess pipe cleaner to form into the shape of a hook. Hang this beautiful ornament from your tree. Kids can be very creative and arrange the beads in any pattern they want.
