Christmas Bell
This craft is very simple, requires only a few supplies, and does not create a mess. You will need a few clean, dry yogurt cups or fruit cups. Punch a small hole in the bottom of each cup. Have your child paint the cups with tempera paint which is available in craft stores. Turn the cups upside down and run a string through the hole in each cup. Tie a jingle bell to the bottom of the string. Jingle bells are inexpensive and available at craft stores. Tie the top of the string in a loop or tie an ornament hook to the top of the string. Your child has created a homemade Christmas bell to hang on your tree!
Handprint Reindeer
My kids made this craft when they were young and I still have them and put them on the walls every Christmas! You will need dark brown construction paper, light brown construction paper, 2 googly eyes, and 1 red pom pom. Trace your child's foot onto the dark brown construction paper and have your child cut it out. Trace both of your child's hands on the light brown paper and have your child cut them out. Glue the 2 handprints to the back of the back of the footprint (up near the toes) which will be the antlers. Glue the googly eyes onto the footprint. Glue the pom pom onto the heel of the footprint which will be the reindeer's nose. How cute is that!
Fruit Ornament
Another simple Christmas craft for children! You will need tin foil; ribbon; red, green and yellow tissue paper scraps; glue; and glitter. Form your ribbon into a loop and tie a knot. Make the loop longer than the length of the fruit. Using tin foil, shape it around the ribbon so the ribbon is inside the foil. Shape the foil into the shape of a fruit, i.e., apple or pear. Dip the tissue paper scraps into glue and use them to cover the fruit. Sprinkle with glitter (the glue will help to hold the glitter on). Now you have pretty, unique tree ornaments! Or you can place the fruit in a bowl and put it on your table as a Christmas centerpiece.
