Easy Christmas Crafts for Very Young Children

Coming up with Christmas projects for very young children can be challenging. We want them to join in the holiday merriment, but finding crafts that are not too difficult for them can be challenging. Check out these easy Christmas crafts below that are great for very young children. They are simple and require only a few materials.

Christmas Stick Bookmarks

For this craft you can use either popsicle sticks or large craft sticks. The craft sticks are larger than the popsicle sticks and therefore may be easier for very young hands. Craft sticks are inexpensive and are available at craft stores. Have your child paint the stick in a Christmas color like red or green. Then at one end of the stick, have your child decorate it with a holiday sticker or stamp. How proud they'll be to give this homemade bookmark to someone as a Christmas gift!

Decorated Picture Frames

You will need a simple, flat picture frame. You can go to any drugstore or craft store and buy the cheapest, plainest one you can find. Let your child decorate the frame with Christmas stickers. Your child can then put a picture in the frame. Be creative. Maybe let her look through a magazine to find a picture of Santa or a Christmas tree or a reindeer, etc. The image can be cut out and put in the picture frame. Now it's all ready to be given as a gift. Or perhaps your child will want to keep it for herself!

Macaroni Garland

All you need is red or green Christmas yarn and some macaroni noodles with big holes in the center such as rigatoni or maybe large macaroni. Cut the yarn long enough to be used as garland. Have your child thread the noodles onto the yarn. A few noodles can be used or a lot. And you're macaroni garland is done and ready to be wrapped around your tree. The noodles will look so cute against the red or green yarn.
