Easy to Make Christmas Projects

Amalynn
With the Christmas season practically upon us, many of us will be looking for festive holiday jewelry to wear. Why not make your own? Not only is it inexpensive, it's creative and easy, and something the whole family can jump in and do! Here's a few ideas for beautiful and fun Christmas pins!

Wreath Pins

What you will need:

One Foot of green lace, cut about 1/2" height
small piece of ribbon
gold safety pins
silver bells
needle and thread, or florist wire
glue gun

Feed a piece of the florist wire or thread the needle through the hem of the piece of lace. After you get it all on the wire, gather up the lace and fasten the wire in place to make a wreath the size that you desire. After twisting the wire together, cut the sharp ends off. To the thin red ribbon, attach two silver or gold bells, one on each of the ends. Tie the ribbon into a bow, and then into a knot so the bow is secured. Use the hot glue gun to glue the bow onto the top of the wreath, and hide the part that was just joined together. When attaching your pin to clothing, use a small safety pin to do so. Voila! You just made a beautiful wreath pin!

Snowman magnet or pin

What you will need:

Three small white pom-poms
two googly eyes
red sock or piece of felt, black felt
thin black marker
Hot glue
tip of an orange crayon, felt or construction paper
Popsicle stick
magnet strip with adhesive or jewelry pin

Glue the three pom-poms onto the Popsicle stick to form a snowman. Use the red sock or felt to cut an 1/2" wide by 8" strip to use as a scarf for the snowman. Tie it around the snowman's neck, using a drop of hot glue to keep it in place. Glue on the googly eyes. Use the black felt to cut out buttons, and glue them onto your snowman. For the nose, use the tip of an orange crayon, or cut out a small one out of the paper or felt. Using the crayon will create a 3-D effect. Use the hot glue to glue on. Use the black felt to cut a rectangle out of, about three inches by four inches long, and then glue the short ends around to form a hat.

Trace around the top of the hat to make a new circle that fits. Cut that out, and glue on one of the ends of the hat. Do the same thing to the bottom of the hat, except make the circle a little bigger for the brim, cut out. You can put small amounts of felt scraps in the hat to help keep its shape, and then glue the brim onto the bottom of the hat. Then glue on the hat to the snowman's head, anchoring it to the Popsicle stick. Either glue on a magnet strip for use on the refrigerator, or a jewelry pin for wearing!
