Easy Christmas Treats

Kellen McFadden Helies
Christmas Wreath Cookies are a fun and easy treat that my mother started making over the holidays. I don't know where she got the idea from, but it is a quick and gooey project that your kids are sure to enjoy.

INGREDIENTS:
One box of corn flakes, any brand will do.
One bag of mini marshmallows
One bag of red hot candies
4 tbs (1/2 stick) of butter, the rest for your fingers
Green food coloring
DIRECTIONS:
Mom or dad needs to melt the butter in a large pot on the stove, over medium heat. When butter is melted down, add the whole bag of mini marshmallows and stir until melted and gooey (you can have the kids take turns stirring). Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir until it is the shade of green you prefer. Add half the bag of corn flakes and stir until everything is coated in the green marshmallow goo. Remove from heat and let cool until mixture is warm, but still sticky. Coat your fingers and hands in remaining butter (this will help to keep the mixture from sticking to you). Scoop mixture out and flatten into your palm. Place on a rectangular pan lined with wax paper. Stick your finger in the middle of the mixture, making a circular motion, to make a hole in the middle(like a donut). Place two red hot candies on the lower part of the cookie. Let the wreath cookies cool and enjoy! They are perfect for holiday parties, gifts, and of course for Santa's plate!
