Coffee filters are a necessary part of brewing the perfect cup of coffee. But, besides a natural component in your coffee pot, coffee filters can be used for many things.
For instance, did you know you can use coffee filters to cover bowls when cooking food in the microwave? Yep, coffee filters make an excellent alternative to that sticky, bullet-proof plastic wrap!
Besides lounging in the basket of the coffee pot, coffee filters can help you clean around the house. Coffee filters are lint-free, and clean window, mirror, and chrome without streaks!
Here's some other ways coffee filters can be helpful:
Wine Cork: If the wine bottle cork has ever broke, you know all about those pieces of cork floating in your glass. Get rid of them without any struggle by filtering the wine through a coffee filter.
Cast-Iron Skillets: Preventing rust from the surface of a cast-iron skillet can be almost impossible. But, placing a coffee filter in the skillet will absorb the moisture and dry the surface so that rust is no more a problem.
Weigh Food: Don't worry about having to figure out how much your plate weighs. Put chopped food in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
Food Wraps: Wrap a taco or other messy foods in a coffee filter. The food will be help securely and any excess grease will be absorbed by the filter.
Recycle Oil: Save cooking oil after frying by straining it through a coffee filter. All the crumbs and food remnants will be caught in the filter, leaving the oil clear and ready to be reused.
Drain Fats: Place a few coffee filters on a serving place. Place fried chicken, fries, etc. on the filter and all the grease will be absorbed by the filters.
Snack Bowls: Use coffee filters as bowls for popcorn, chips or other snack foods. No dirty bowls!
Packing Paper: Use coffee filters to separate dishes and add cushioning in moving or storage boxes.
Ornaments: Christmas or other holiday ornaments can be protected by wrapping them in coffee filters.
Nail Care: Coffee filters can be used when removing fingernail polish. Instead of several tissues or cotton balls, one coffee filter can get the job done.
Shoe Care: Wad a coffee filter into a ball and use it to apply shoe polish. Since they are lint-free, they can, also, be used to buff a shiny surface on the shoe.
Body Waxing: Instead of buying expensive strips to wax eyebrows or legs, use a coffee filter.
Gardening: Place a coffee filter in the bottom of a pot before adding the soil. The filter will prevent the soil from escaping through the drainage holes.
Popsicle Drips: Slip the stick of a Popsicle through a coffee filter to keep drips from dropping onto shirts, or running along a kid's arms. It won't avoid sticky fingers, but it will absorb a lot of the drippings.
Crafts: Coffee filters can make great paper snowflakes! They already have folds, so just cut triangles, circles, or slits into the filter, unfold, and you have an easy to make snowflake. They can be colored or painted, or not.
Oh, yeah, coffee filters work great in your coffee pot, too!
