Easy Craft Project: Personalized Monogrammed CD Tin

This CD tin is a quick and easy craft project. Personalized CD tins are ideal for giving unique gifts to your friends. Make one for yourself, too!

I am lucky to have a short name, so there was ample room to spell my name out using letter stickers on the top of this CD. If your name is more than 3 or 4 letters, you might want to use your initials to create a monogram instead of trying to cram your entire name on the top of the CD. If you'd rather spell out your name, your other option is to use smaller letter stickers than the ones I used; the stickers that I used each measure approximately 1 1/4 inches high, so if you need to fit more letters on the top of the tin, plan accordingly.

You will need the following art and craft supplies to make this craft project:

An Undecorated Metal CD Tin

Alcohol ink. I used Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Ink by Ranger Industries, but you could also use Pinata Colors by Jacquard Products, or another similar alcohol ink.

2 different colored papers. I used an orange patterned paper and a yellow patterned paper, but you can use any colors you like. You don't have to use patterned paper, either; you could use cardstock if you prefer. Textured cardstock would be especially lovely in this project.

A Round Scalloped Die Cut. The one I used is by Scenic Route; it is from the Ashville Collection. Scenic Route makes lots of similar die cuts, so you should be able to find their die cuts in other colors if you'd rather use a different color scheme than the one shown here.

Alphabet / Letter Stickers. I used letter stickers by Reminisce. The stickers were originally white, but I used a green marker to color them before I put the project together.

Decorative Scissors. I used 2 different pairs of Fiskars scissors, the Heartstrings design and the Clouds design.

Faux Flower. I used one made by Prima Maketing, but you can use any faux flower that strikes your fancy.

A Button for making the flower center.

How To Create The CD Tin:

Paint the tin with alcohol ink. I used a green color named "Meadow" to do mine. You can choose any color of alcohol ink you like.

Measure your tin and figure out how large you want your circles of patterned paper to be.

Turn your patterned papers over and draw the circles on the back of them with pencil using the circle template

Cut around the circles using your decorative scissors.

Sew your button into the center of your faux flower to create the flower center.

Layer your circle die cut on top of your patterned paper circles, attaching them together using the adhesive of your choice.

Then attach the circles, letter stickers, and the flower to the top of the tin.

You can add more embellishments or doodling if you like. I traced around my letter stickers to give them some additional emphasis.

Add the CD of your choice, and enjoy!
