Easy Creative Snowman Ideas

If it's snowing outside, chances are there will be a free snow day in your kid's future. Part of the fun of a winter snow storm or snow fall, is the chance to make a snowman. Traditionally, a snowman includes making three round snowballs, one bigger than the next.

First, you would create the biggest snow ball which would act as the snowman's base. Then, a medium-sized ball of snow to place in the center. Finally, carefully place the smallest snowball of the three on to act as the snowman's head. Now, you have a blank canvas for creating your snowman.

Traditionally, people make snow people using tips from the popular Christmas song, "Frosty The Snowman", who's lyrics include:

"Frosty the snowman, was a jolly, happy soul, with a corncob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made out of coal"...

You don't have to make a snowman with those features though. Some people place scarves and hats on their snowmen, and many people use carrots as noses. You and your children can have a lot of fun building creative people out of snow. They can take odds and ends from crafting supplies, or old clothing to make their own interesting snowmen. Here are some creative snowman ideas for building a snowman this winter:

You can use Mr. Potato Head features to create the snowman's face.

A fun idea is to make "Florida winter" vacation snowman. Place a Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, flip flops at the snowman's feet.

What about a colorful snowman? Simply take a spray bottle and fill it with food coloring and water to make a tie-dyed snowman.

A clown snowman. Place a clown wig on his head. A red nose for the snowman's nose. Big, colorful felt circles can be used for his buttons.

What about a snow family? Make a mom, dad, and baby snowman and dress them accordingly.

An easy snowman idea is

You can use yarn for hair on a snowman.

If you love country music, you can make a cowboy snowman with old cowboy boots, cowboy hat, and a red handkerchief around their neck.

What about ladies' night out? You can make a few snow "ladies" and dress them in heels, costume jewelry, and club clothes.

Building snowmen can be fun for the entire family, and can draw a lot of good humor from neighbors and friends. Making a snowman is a winter tradition for many people, but it doesn't have to be boring. These are only a few examples of what you can make with a little creativity, but the possibilities are endless!
