This deep dish apple pie recipe is a family favorite! My mom used to make this for my siblings and me growing up and now I enjoy making this for my kids. This apple pie recipe is easy enough to make that your kids can even help you.

You will love the apple and cinnamon flavor combination and the crusty, crumbly, oatmeal topping. There is no complicated and time consuming crust to roll out so it is quick to make. Prepare before dinner and let it bake while you are eating. What a delicious and easy apple dessert you will have to complete your meal!

Easy Deep Dish Apple Pie

Ingredients:
2-3 pounds apples - I prefer Granny Smith or Johnathan variety, but any will work fine
1/2 - 3/4 cup white sugar - use less if a sweet apple is used
1/2 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon

Topping:*
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon

Grease or spray a deep baking dish. Peel, core, and slice the apples using an Apple Peeler Slicer Corer if available. If not, just use a knife. You can also cut the apples into wedges if preferred. Place the apples in the baking dish. Fill leaving about a half inch for the topping.
In a bowl mix together white sugar, water, vanilla, and 1 tsp cinnamon. Pour over the apples.
For the topping, In a separate bowl cream the butter and brown sugar. Mix in the flour, oatmeal, salt and cinnamon until it forms a crumbly consistency. Place over the apples.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until the topping begins to brown.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy!

*A double batch of the topping can be used and will make this deep dish apple pie even more rich and delicious.
