Ingredients

Serves 6
1 Trifle Sponge Cake (or regular sponge cake)
1 (liter) Package Custard
1 packet Red Jelly Crystals
1 packet Green Jelly Crystals
1 Bottle Brandy (or red wine)
1 Tin Fruit Salad (chunky)
1 bag or pack Cherries (optional)

Directions for Easy and Delicious Christmas Trifle Recipe

1
Pre-make
Make the jelly packets the night before to allow time for them to get the "jelly" texture.
2
Cut
Cut the sponge/trifle cake into cubes and place HALF of them into a large bowl (this will be the bowl you serve it in, so keep this in mind).
3
Pour
Sprinkle or pour your brandy/wine over the cubes (this is where preference comes in on how strong you want the sponge cake to taste).
4
Add
Add HALF of your jelly, 1/3 of the custard, and HALF of the fruit on top of the sponge cubes in the bowl.
5
Layer
Repeat this with the left-over half of cubed sponge peices and other ingredients. (In the end you should be left with 1/3 of custard - use all other ingredients with the exception of wine depending upon your taste preferences with alcohol)
6
Top
Cover with a nice layer of custard (using all of the remaining amount). Add cherries decoratively on top (optional).
Tip
If you prefer a stronger alcohol flavor, let the sponge cake soak in the wine instead of just drizzling it on top. This recipe can be made without the fruit salad if you prefer.
