Easy Easter Projects Make Great Gifts for Children

Use Creativity to Make Affordable Easter Basket Goodies

Drew Taylor
When deciding how to fill a child's Easter basket with goodies, expensive gifts and candy are an obvious choice. However, homemade Easter gifts are a fun, meaningful option. These affordable craft projects use very few supplies. Adults can make the Bible verse keeper, pen and bookmark to use as affordable Easter basket gifts. The simple craft instructions make these Easter projects suitable for children, too.

Easter Memo Pad Bible Verse Keeper and Pen Set
Inexpensive 3x5 memo pads cost around $.35 at stores such as Office Depot and Family Dollar. A bit of scrap paper and glue transform the plain notepad into a cute Easter gift for children. Use paper to customize a gel pen to make a matching set. The pad makes a cute Bible verse keeper for older children or a doodle pad for younger children.

Supplies
3x5 memo pad
wrapping paper or scrapbook paper remnants
pencil
scissors
glue stick
gel pen with clear barrel
Optional: ribbon, 10 inches long

Craft Instructions
Beginning right below the binding, trace the cover of the memo pad on the paper.
Cut the paper out and glue it to the cover. If necessary, trim excess.
Repeat for back cover.
Embellish with the recipient's name, paper cutouts or stickers.
Cut a small piece of coordinating paper to fit inside the barrel of the pen.
Disassemble the pen and insert the paper around the ink supply.
Reassemble the pen.
If desired, attach the pen to the notepad.
Tie one end of the ribbon to the clip on the pen cap.
Wrap the ribbon around the knot two or three times to conceal the knot.
Securely tie the other end of ribbon around the notepad binding.

Easter Bookmark Craft
This green craft project utilizes thin cardboard such as a soda box or cereal box and scrapbook paper to make an Easter bookmark. The finished bookmark is sturdy without being too thick or bulky.

Supplies
thin cardboard
wrapping paper or scrapbook paper remnants
pencil
scissors
ruler
glue stick

Craft Instructions
Draw a rectangle one and a half to two inches wide and six inches long on the cardboard.
Cut out the rectangle.
Use the glue stick to attach decorative paper to the cardboard.
Allow the glue to dry.
Customize by adding a Bible verse or Easter phrases and stickers or cutouts.

Easter Bible Verses and Phrases for Children
These popular Bible verses and religious phrases are appropriate for children celebrating Easter. Look for additional Easter verses in the book of Corinthians, John, Matthew, Psalms and Luke.

He lives.
He has risen.
The Lord is risen.
Rejoice.
"The Lord reigns; Let the earth rejoice." Psalm 97:1
