Easy and Effective Hair Tips from a Professional Beautician Who Knows Her Stuff

Angel Vee
When it comes to the hair there are certain tips I always give my clients to abide by; this way their hair can remain in great shape at home in-between services. After each client leaves me they are on their own. If they do not take my advice and something happens to hair I am not responsible. My tips are easy, effective, and will either make or break your style if not kept up with.

What Type Of Hair Do You Have?

To some people this question might sound kind of strange. You're probably thinking "I have short hair or long hair." No, do you have thick coarse hair, thin and fragile, long and damaged, or gray and resistant? To actually know which type of hair you have will determine the healthiness of your hair. Why? Because if you use the wrong styling products on your hair it can change the texture and possibly even damage. Why do you think certain companies make certain products? Because we all have different hair issues, and no ones hair is identical.

Proper Shampooing And Conditioning The Hair

Ok everyone can do this, sounds so easy right? Well think again, it's not. If your a person who wear products in the hair everyday, or work around dust you need to rinse the hair properly to ensure a healthy scalp and head of hair.

Too much buildup can cause your hair to become dry, frizzy, dull, and take away the moisture your needs. Hair needs to be moisturized and hydrated at all times. This means winter, summer, fall, and spring. Don't think all you need to do is throw shampoo on head, lather, and rinse. Wrong, and your hair will pay for it.

Wet your head thoroughly. Then place a small amount of shampoo onto the scalp. Massage and rub just the scalp. Do not lather and massage the whole head at first. The scalp process is what will help remove all that nasty product buildup in the hair.

Repeat this again, but now do the whole head from top to bottom. Use your fingers so you can prevent tangles, but get to the ends. Rinse in cold water and follow up with a conditioner.

Make Sure To Protect From All Weather

Just because it's cold outside and raining this doesn't mean your hair can't get damaged. The sun, wind, snow, rain, humidity, and cold can all have certain effects on the hair and scalp. What does this mean to you? Protect and shield. Use a deep moisturizer, seal the cuticle, and use the proper tools.

If you plan on drying your hair keep it to a minimum on low heat. After using an iron always seal that cuticle with a good hair serum. For a brush try and use a natural boar bristle, this will keep the hair shiny and cause less damage.

Want Stronger And Longer Hair

Regardless of whose hair I end up doing, everyone always seems to ask "How can I make my hair grow longer.? This is actually an easy tip if you follow it right.

Three keywords trim, moisture, and proper diet. You need to cut the ends like very 4-8 weeks. I'm not talking 2-4 inches off a 1/2 would be sufficient enough. Keep hair and scalp moistened by drinking plenty of water, using leave in conditioners and right products. When it comes to diets we all freak. By proper diet I mean eat or take what your hair needs in order to grow faster and be healthy. Eggs, beans, avocados, nuts, fish, broccoli and chicken can help drastically. Vitamins our needs Vitamin K, Vitamin E, Vitamin B, Vitamin D, Biotin, Rose hips, and Vitamin A.

Do Not Wrap The Hair

Most women usually come out of the shower and wrap their hair in a towel. Do not do this. Squeeze the excess water out in the shower. Then gently towel blot the hair, and wrap towel around neck. If you wrap the towel around your hair it can cause breakage at the nape or hairline, especially because we all try to do the towel tight.

Do Not Use The Highest Temperature On Styling Tools

High temperature can cause your hair to frizz and leave your hair lifeless looking. Who want's that? Choose a lower product. One it's cheaper, and two better for the hair.

Coloring Hair At Home Trying To keep Color Bold

After getting a fresh new color do not wash the hair for 2-3 days. Allow the color to lock in, and seep into the scalp. Then wash the hair every 2-3 days if you can to prevent any fading. Make sure to use cold water.

Don't Be Afraid To Ask Questions

Have you ever left the salon and wondered what products the stylist used, or how they created your new look? Ask plenty of questions on how to keep up the style, and proper usage at home. If you don't speak, then your the only one to blame if hair is not the way you like it.

Choose Right Style Or Color

Decide if you want bangs or layers. If you have thick hair layers are a must. Research the color first before entering salon. Use a virtual color program online to see how the color will look. Bring pictures in of exactly what your aiming for.

My last simple tip is the most important when it comes to getting your hair done. Trust and communicate with your stylist. If you do not speak up and build a nice relationship, your hair can turn out hideous. Choose someone you like as a person from first impression. Do not choose someone just because their prices are higher, and their hairstyle is cool. This doesn't mean crap; their work can be garbage.

Great tips! I knew most of these rules, but I break them a lot, especially the towel one. But I do try to do it very loosely and take it out as soon as I'm done with my makeup. I have medium-thick, curly hair. Would you believe I haven't even had so much as a trim in 9 or 10 months? I donated my long hair and it was really short. It's finally growing out and I didn't want to cut it. I think I'm due for a trim, though.
