Make a custom T-Shirt.
What could be better than to let Dad wear his kids' admiration on Father's Day? Start with letting your kids make a great portrait of Dad, or use a favorite piece of their artwork. Scan into your computer, or take a digital picture of the masterpiece. Print onto iron on transfer sheets (I found some at Wal-Mart, 3 sheets for $7), iron on a comfy t-shirt, and viola! Dad has a portable piece of art made by his favorite artist. All he needs to do to show off is to put on his new T-shirt!
How about a Picture Keychain?
Another easy idea is to take wallet size (or you can trim a regular photo) pictures, seal with either a laminating sheet or two sheets of clear contact paper, and punch a hole for the key chain. Then attach a key chain, and your little darling' will be with Dad everywhere he goes!
Kiss the Cook!
We know Dads love to be the king of the BBQ. How about decorating a custom apron for your favorite cook? An easy idea that kids love, is to let them get messy by dunking their hands in fabric paint (use plenty of newspaper or try doing this outside). Then they can put their handprint on a blank apron. You can find plain white aprons perfect for this project at a craft store like www.michaels.com or www.joannefabrics.com. Use fabric markers to let them sign under their handprint, and leave a father's day message for Dad. Make sure you put the date somewhere, as years from now he'll want to know how long ago their hands were that little!
A Few of His Favorite things...
Sometimes the simplest of things can mean a lot. How about making Dad a gift basket filled with all of his favorite foods? Or how about compiling a CD of all his very favorite songs on one CD? Make it more personal by buying printable CD labels and personalize them with a Father's Day message and pictures of the kids. Then let Dad chill for a while with his tunes on his special day!
Have Fun!
These are just a few ideas, but there are no limits to the ways to pamper Dad on Father's Day. Gifts like these are fun to make, and will be remembered much longer than a tie or silly singing fish to hang on the wall!
