There are various ways to make your painting look unique, stylish and with an elegant finish. By painting your home, you can make a difference by using different techniques that will give it a fresh look, and chic designs. When doing it, choose great colors that you could blend perfectly so that the house wall you painted will not just look like a house but a home that invites comfort.

Here are the tips in Crackle painting that can make your home one of the best painted homes in your neighborhood. There are two designs that I will include and those are Porcelain and Weathered Crackle painting techniques.

In Porcelain Crackle Painting, the first step is to cover the area you do not want to include with a tape. Apply the entire surface with a base coat using a roller and when done, slowly remove the tape and allow the paint to dry overnight. The next day, put those tape again in the same area and prepare a foam brush. Then, with a small X pattern, carefully apply an even porcelain crackle to the surface and allow the X's patterns to overlap in order to cover the whole surface. When the whole area is already covered, use the foam brush and lightly run it over the surface to achieve an even glaze. You can move the brush in a horizontal or in a vertical manner to have an even coat and apply more glazes if needed. Final Smoothing of the surface should be in a vertical position. When done, the tape should be removed in an hour and the paint is allowed to dry completely.

When the Crackle glaze is completely dry, which could last up to 24 hours, a translucent color glaze is needed to be applied to the surface using a dry rag or a brush. Use a clean rag to remove excess glaze before it dries up and a coat of clear protector would be a good suggestion for an extra protection of the painted wall.

To have a weathered crackle paint design, just follow the first procedure in porcelain crackle painting from covering the walls with a tape and applying the base coat with a roller and when the tape is removed, leave the entire surface to dry up for at least 12 hours. Then, reapply the tape and an even coat of Weathered Crackle Glaze is applied using a quality nylon brush or ΒΌ a nap roller. The application of the glaze should not be overworked. Then the tape is again being removed and the paint is allowed to dry from 2 to 4 hours before the application of the top coat.

After four hours, a top coat is applied with an Interior Flat paint using a flat sheen to have a crackle effect. It is best applied in one direction and must not be overworked. In a few minutes, you observe a crack formed in the walls showing a base under the top coat. A pronounced crack can be done by using a brush but if you want a finer crack effect, use a roller. The tape should be removed within an hour and the paint is allowed to dry.
