Easy Four Steps to Clear Skin in the Summer!

Worried About Acne During the Summer? Worry No More!

Nancy Yu
In the summer, people begin to worry about their skin to the excess oil that their skin tends to produce during the summer. Thus, many people are surprised to learn that oily faces and acne do not have an extreme correlation. In fact, I've known quite a few people who have really oily skin but their faces are perfectly clear. Similarly, I've also known people who have dry skin but their faces bears somewhat of a resemblance to the rocky mountains. However, people who have oily skin types are more likely have those extra few pimples.

The reason lies in the fact that when the skin produces large amounts of oil and is not cleaned very well, the oil begins to clog up our pores. If we do not effectively remove the dirt and oil clogging up our pores, we'll have acne. Furthermore, if you have oily skin and you love to eat fried foods and stay up all night and you lead an unorganized and hectic lifestyle, most likely, you'll have more pimples than your friends.

Surprisingly, it's not all that difficult to get rid of pimples and prevent them from reappearing. As long as you do a thorough skin care routine once to twice a week, your skin condition will become drastically better.

Skin care routine:

1. Use a gentle exfoliating cleanser or scrub to completely cleanse your skin. I usually like to use St. Ives Apricot Scrub. It smells nice and gets the job done well. You can find it at your local drugstore for a very cheap price.

2. Squeeze a reasonable amount of oil-control mask and use your fingers to gently spread it evenly over your face. I usually like to make my own mask. I just mix a banana (or two if you need more) and a couple tablespoons of honey and a spritz of lemon juice and voila! The mask is ready.

Alternatives:
don't like the banana and honey mask? try these and see which one fits your taste.

You can use the milk of magnesia as an oil-control facial mask. Apply the milk of magnesia evenly across your face and wash it off 10 minute later.

You can mix a couple tablespoons of green clay (which can be bought at any local drugstore) and a couple tablespoons of apricot oil. Add warm water to the mix until it becomes a cream and apply it to your face. Wash it off 10 minutes later.

3. Now you can lay back on your bed and listen to some music or read a book while you wait. I suggest you put your legs in a higher spot to increase the efficiency of the mask.

4. Five to ten minutes later, wash off the mask.

For people with oily skin, pimples are a very normal thing. Make sure you perform skin care routines often to keep your skin in tip top shape. Also, don't use skin care products that are too strong because they can sap all of the oil from your skin and that will cause your skin to produce even more oil.
