Easy Green Living Tips for Going Green

Going Green is Easy when You Incorporate Green Living Habits into Your Life a Little at a Time

When some folks decide to go green they are ready to jump into green living in every aspect of their life. But, for some folks who care about their health and the planet and are just becoming aware of green living, it might not be that easy. Going green all at once can be a huge lifestyle change, particularly for folks who are not familiar with some of the simple ways green living can be incorporated into your current lifestyle. And, when individuals and families first start looking into going green, the whole prospect might seem way too expensive and overwhelming.

While you can actually save money while saving the planet and improving your health, changing from a conventional lifestyle to green living all at once does have some cost concerns. From cloth napkins and recycling bins, to solar panels and eco-friendly, organic clothing, how green you choose to be will determine how much money and effort needs to go into your green living transformation.

Here are three green living tips for going green the easy way. By following these tips and incorporating green living into your life one step at a time, you will find that going green will be a more affordable, sustainable lifestyle change for you and your family.

Easy Green Living Tip #1

Going green can start with something as simple as switching from paper napkins and paper towels to reusable cloth napkins and cloth kitchen towels. This is a great first step in going green and allows you to begin to transition to green living in an affordable manner. You will be pleasantly surprised to find that you will begin saving money relatively quickly since you will no longer need to purchase disposable paper napkins and paper towels.

Easy Green Living Tip #2

If you and your family don't already recycle, this is a simple way to lower your impact on the environment and feel good about going green. By simply diverting some of your trash into the recycling bin you can limit the amount of waste that you and your family send to the landfill each year and teach your children valuable earth friendly living lessons at an early age. You don't need to purchase expensive bins with recycling symbols on them - milk crates, boxes, trash cans and other containers that you probably already have on hand will work just fine.

If your community offers curbside recycling, they will likely provide recycling bins for your use. If not, simply set up your own recycling bins and make a trip to your local recycling center whenever they fill up.

Easy Green Living Tip #3

Invest in power strips for your television, DVD player, stereo, computer, printer, coffeemaker and other household electronics. Electronic devices that are turned off, but still plugged into a wall socket continue to draw energy, commonly referred to as phantom power. By plugging your appliances and electronics into inexpensive power strips that you can switch off when not in use, you can end phantom power usage in your home and save money on your energy bill each month.

These three tips may not seem like much in the greater green living movement, but simple steps like these will help you get on the path to going green in a way that will not significantly impact your current lifestyle. Making small, sustainable changes is the key to lasting lifestyle changes and will get you well on the way to green living.
