Is your kid insistent on designing a homemade Halloween costume this year? Are you stumped for ideas? If you've got a large cardboard box, some spray paint and a steady hand, you can design dozens of homemade Halloween costumes for less than $10.

While designing your own costume using a cardboard box can be cheap and easy, it may get a bit messy. Just be sure to use a tarp or the outdoors when creating your kid's Halloween costume.

Easy Homemade Halloween Costume Ideas for Kids

Ideas for Kids: A Lego

For this easy homemade Halloween costume, you'll need a large box, colored spray paint, matching face paint, 6 equally-sized, smaller boxes,3 ice cream containers, and matching tights or pants. Tape up the box and spray paint. Once the box is dry, cut out holes for the head, legs and arms. Spray paint the six smaller boxes the same color and affix to the front of the box. Spray paint the ice cream containers and then cut them in equal halves. Affix these to the back. Paint face to match.

Ideas for Kids: A Rubik's Cube

This easy Halloween costume idea requires a large box, black marker, and blue, green, red, yellow, orange, and white spray paint. Tape up the box, then paint each side one of the above colors. Once dry, draw nine even squares on each side. Cut holes for head, legs and arms.

Ideas for Kids: An X-Ray

For this homemade Halloween costume, you'll need a large box, black and white spray paint and some drawing or stenciling skills. Tape up the box. Draw a ribcage, spine, and hip bone along the front of the box and then cover with paper. Spray paint the entire box, making sure not to paint over your bones. Once the box is dry, cut holes for the head, legs and arms. To top off this easy kid's costume, paint his face white and paint leg and arm bones along a pair of black pants and a long-sleeved shirt to wear with the box.

Ideas for Kids: Dice

For this easy Halloween costume, you'll need a large box, white spray paint, a black marker, and something to trace circles with, such as a mug or coffee can, depending on how big your kid and the box is. Tape up the box and spray white. Design the appropriate amount of circles on each side (1 to 6) and color black. Cut out the head, leg and arm holes.
