Easy and Healthy Habits for Life

Sarah Rachel
It takes about 2 years on average of doing something consistently to turn it in to a habit. We all have good and bad habits and most of us have it ingrained in us to brush our teeth daily and even put our clothes on. Over our lifetime we have built so many habits, and wouldn't it be nice to have a few more good habits? There are some healthy lifestyle habits which are essential for optimum health and wellness. Building these good habits can help to improve your quality of life.

1). Good posture. People who have good posture all the time ooze confidence. Standing tall helps you to look thinner, and it is one of the best habits you can build. Bad posture can make a person appear sloppy or even lazy. Maintaining good posture also has some very interesting health benefits. People who have good posture tend to have better athletic performance and common injuries can be avoided. Standing up straight also prevents back and neck strain.

2). Drink Water. This is such a simple thing to do yet many people have said they have a difficult time drinking water, especially the recommend 6-8 glasses each day. They tend to favor their sugar laden sodas and teas. On a daily basis we are exposed to so many substances and drinking water helps to flush the body. Think of it as giving yourself a bath on inside. Drinking pure filtered water helps to keep your body working the way it should. Water has so many roles, and the subject of water alone could be an entire article all by itself. Our body is made up of 75% water and we need it to thrive. Drink a glass of pure water in the morning before work. Then hydrate yourself by drinking bottled water several times during the day and in the evening. Do this consistently and you will soon develop the habit of drinking water. Always remember to avoid tap water, only drink filtered or purified bottled water.

3). Get your rest. Studies show that good sleep is vital as it promotes health and helps to reduce stress. Our body works hard repairing itself while we sleep. The best time to get your rest is between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. The main reason for this is because staying up too late can have the opposite affect and weaken your immune system. Your body does a better job repairing itself during these hours.

4). Exercise. Getting just 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day can do wonders for your health. Our heart is a muscle that needs to be worked out, and making it a habit to exercise is essential. Going on a daily walk, riding your bike or heading the gym is something that we should all incorporate into our daily lives.

5). Take your vitamins. It is important to eat a healthy well balanced diet with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Yet, even if we do eat well we may still become deficient in essential vitamins and minerals. The main reason for this is because our soil is very depleted of nutrients as compared to 100 years ago. We also tend to get busy and it can be difficult to find time to eat the required amount of fruits and veggies that we really need. You can supplement your healthy diet by taking a whole food multi vitamin and mineral supplement daily. Whole food is the best because these vitamins are actually made from food rather than in a lab. Great choices are juice plus, and Garden of life brands.
