First of all, sending a gift subscription saves money. Magazine and newspaper subscriptions can save one half to 75% off from the cover price for a single magazine. Sending a gift subscription saves you in shipping and handling fees also. The shipping fee is cover in the cost of the subscriptions.
Another way that subscriptions save you big money is on postage costs. Many of our relatives live far from us. Every holiday season would see me: hunting for boxes, wrapping gifts ever so carefully to prevent breakage, spending money to wrap gifts which got squashed in boxes, waiting in line to have the packages weighed, struggling with big boxes, worrying that they wouldn't arrive at their destination on time, forgetting to add certain things and having to ship seperately and worst of all: spending $30-$40 just on postage.
Magazine subscriptions are a green solution, also. No spending money on wrapping and ribbon. No running from store to store wasting gas. No returns for things that didn't fit. Magazine subscriptions are a one size fits all gift. Many magazine subscriptions are available for $10 or less for a year. And the gift keeps on giving all year long. My children love openihg the mailbox and finding their newest issue waiting. I'm told that the adults who receive their magazines look forward to them each month also.
I love hunting up the perfect magazine subscription for each person. Children love Highlights, Ranger Rick, Amercian Girl and Boy's Life. Teens and young adults enjoy Tiger Beat, Seventeen, Popular Science or Popular Mechanics, Cosmopolitan, Car and Driver and Rolling Stone. Adults favorites include: Atlantic Monthy, O, Field and Stream, This Old House, The New Yorker, Time, Newsweek, Family Fun, Bon Apetit, Smithsonian and People. Seniors love National Geographic, Reminisce and Reader's Digest (large print). You may wish to send a subscription that relates to specific hobbies or interests that the reader may have.
