Easy Home Decorating Using Asian Accessories

R. M. Dubuc
Home decorating with an Asian influence can be created in any home or apartment, by choosing some basic traditional Asian-themed accessories. Those who use the art of Feng Shui in the home may consider using a few Asian accessories to compliment or balance certain rooms. Asian home decor can range from completing an entire room in Asian design, or simply adding an Asian touch to any area of a specific room. Even home offices may benefit from some Asian-inspired home decor. Asian accessories are easy to add to any living space, and many can be found at reasonable prices, both online and at local retailers.

Choosing Asian Accessories for the Home

Shopping for Asian themed accessories can be a daunting task at first. Luckily, there are a number of ways to begin a search for Asian-inspired accessories for the home. The first step is to plan a general design of the room that you want to give and Asian touch to. Decorating a living room will take more time than adding a small Zen garden to your home office, but once completed, any home decor project which includes Asian accessories, is certain to create a brand new home decor look in the home.

Asian accessories can be divided into categories of design. When decorating the home with Asian accessories, it is important to balance any room in the home with a variety of Asian pieces and accessories. Using too many Asian designs on the wall, and too little complimentary accessories elsewhere in the room will create an imbalance in the room. Asian home decor is about balance and harmony. It is important to choose different Asian accessories and place them throughout the living space, without giving the room a cluttered effect.

Asian-Inspired Accessories

Asian-themed accessories often stand out in any room in the home. The beauty of Chinese calligraphy can be captured and hung on the wall of any room in the home, in a framed print. Asian accessories can also include a variety of plants, which can bring the life-affirming color green into any room in the home. Bamboo plants and Bonsai trees can add an Asian influence to the home. Small Zen gardens can be created in the home using a few Asian-inspired plants and some simple accessories.

Large Asian-influenced vases can be included as part of an Asian inspired home decor plan. Chinese or Japanese art can be displayed on any wall in the home, either as a stand-alone art piece, or in small groupings of art. Larger pieces should be placed in areas where they can be seen without distraction from nearby accessories.

Chinese paper lamps can be used in rooms where a strong Asian influence is desired. Other Asian-inspired lighting can be found in simple Japanese or Chinese designed lamps or lighting fixtures. A Chinese tea set might be included in the room, or other Asian pieces, as part of accessorizing the Asian-themed room. The key to accessorizing a room with Asian accessories is to always remember to strive for balance in the room, by placing each accessory in complimentary ways.

Where to Find Asian Accessories

Asian accessories can range from high-end original pieces and accessories from Asia, to those found at local retailers. Authentic pieces will likely be the highlight of any Asian-inspired room decor, but many Asian accessories can be found for much less money at local retailers or from online stores. Some of the places to consider for finding Asian accessories include; Pier 1, Target, Kohls, and other local retailers. Ebay is another option for those who want to search for more authentic Asian accessories online.
