Easy Halloween Pumpkin Garland: What You'll Need
This simple garland can be made from a variety of materials that you probably already have on hand. The pumpkins for this homemade garland can be made from orange construction paper, plain white paper, orange felt or fleece or cardboard. Quite literally, use what you've got.
You will also need a length of string, yarn, twine, ribbon or raffia for the garland. You can make this garland as long or as short as you'd like but remember, the longer the garland is the more work it takes to manage putting it up. I prefer to make shorter garlands and string them together when decorating.
You will also need glue, an assortment of craft pony beads (optional) and scissors. Depending upon the type of material (paper, fabric or cardboard) you use for the pumpkins you may need markers or crayons.
Easy Halloween Pumpkin Garland: How to Make It
Start by folding your paper in half lengthwise. You will need to trace or draw the shape of a pumpkin with a stem. The stem should be at the paper's fold. I used a round lid as a template to trace around for the pumpkin shape.
Cut out the pumpkins then decorate them. My daughters and I had a great time decorating faces on these construction paper pumpkins. They had fun creating scary and silly faces on their pumpkins. Both sides of the pumpkins should be decorated.
Next color the stems green or cut out green construction paper to glue on the stems. I chose to use the green construction glued onto the orange for the stems.
The last step was to glue the pumpkins onto the yarn or string. I used black yarn that I already had on hand. My daughters and I put the pumpkins on the yarn in no particular order then we hung the garland at my kitchen window. This was a quick and easy craft project that we had a lot of fun doing. It prompted my youngest daughter to begin asking "So what are we making next?"
