These days there are many different superheroes to choose from, and keep in mind that superheroes can be for both boys and girls. There is Batman, Spider-man, Superman, Iron Man, and Flash just to name a few for the boys. And for girls there is Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl, Cat Woman, and Xena: Warrior Princess. First, decide which superhero you want to be like and then use the same colors to create your own costume. Most costumes can include tights or leggings, and an iron on transfer to any shirt with the superhero logo. Listed are a few ways to make a costume for your favorite superhero.

Batman wears all black, so this costume can be pretty simple. You will need black pants, a black long sleeve shirt, small pieces of black and yellow fabrics, a hot glue gun, a long piece of black material and black face paint. To start, you can look online for a batman logo if you don't know how to draw it freehand. Cut out two bat patterns from the small piece of black material and two ovals from the yellow making sure they are bigger than the bat. If you don't sew you can use a hot glue gun to glue one yellow oval to the front of the shirt and then glue one bat to the center of the oval. Next, cut your long piece of black material to look like a cape and glue on the other logo to the back of the cape to match the shirt. Instead of buying a mask, you can use black face paint. To complete the costume consider wearing a black belt or boots.

A Spider-Man outfit is simple to put together yourself. You can use a red turtleneck, blue tights, and long red socks, along with a little face paint and black marker. Use the marker to make the web and spider design on the red turtleneck and the face paint to mimic the mask.

To make a Superman costume at home you will need a blue sweatshirt and pants, a yellow belt, a pair of red underwear, long red socks a long piece of red material and small pieces of red and yellow materials. Cut out an "S" from the red material and glue it to a yellow triangle cutout. Attach that Super-Man logo to the front of the sweatshirt. Then put on the pants followed by the red underwear to be worn on the outside, the red socks over the pant legs and the yellow belt high at the waist. Then attach your cape to the back of the sweatshirt and you're ready to fly away!

The Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl costume has a lot of pieces; this will be a simplified version. You will need a red tank top, a short blue skirt, a long piece of red material, some gold ribbon, white felt, gold and red foam boards and some hot glue. First, glue the gold ribbon to the top of the tank top to look like a "W". Cut out stars from the white felt and glue them all over the blue skirt. Next, make a belt and crown out of the gold foam board and cut a star from the red foam board to glue on the front of the crown. Also use the foam board to tie around the ankles and calves to look like high boots. Lastly, cut the piece of red material to look like a cape and secure it around the shoulders.

Catwoman is dressed in all black in a skin tight outfit. To make this costume you will need a black leotard, black tights, long black gloves, tall black boots, a black headband, black felt, a jump rope, some black spray paint and some makeup. The outfit itself is simple, just put on the leotard, tights, gloves and boots. To make the cat ears, simply cut out two triangles from the felt and glue it the headband. The jump rope will be used as her whip. Cut off one of the handles and spray paint black. Use the makeup to make dark smoky eyes and make the lips deep red. You can even make big curly hair for an added touch. Now you're ready to prowl through the night!
