Easy Homemade Treats for Pets

Bandit
Our pets give us unconditional love everyday. Show your dog or cat just how much you love them by whipping up a fresh batch of easy homemade treats.

Doggy Bones

Whole organic wheat flour
1 cup Organic Almond Butter (I buy this already prepared in the bulk section at Sunflower Market)
3/4 cup Organic Milk.

Mix ingredients until moistened and add enough flour for the dough not to be sticky. Dust the counter with some of the wheat flour and then use a rolling pin and roll the dough out to where it is ¼ inch thick. Cut the dough into bone shapes. Bake 350 for 20 minutes and cook completely.

Basic Dog & Cat Biscuits

2 ½ cups Organic whole wheat flour
½ cup powdered skim milk
1 egg beaten

Flavoring: meat drippings, beef or chicken broth or water from canned tuna (just enough though to make dough stiff) Combine flour and milk in medium bowl. Add beaten egg and flavoring and mix well with hands. Dough should be very stiff. If necessary add more flavoring. On a well floured surface, roll out dough to ¼ thick. Cut into shapes of your choice with cookie cutters. Place on to un greased cookie sheets for30 minutes. Make 24 biscuits.

Pumpkin Nibblers

2 ½ cups Organic whole wheat flour
1-16 ounce can Libby Pumpkin Pie Filling

Mix ingredients until moistened and if necessary, add enough flour for the dough not to be sticky. Dust the counter with some of the wheat flour and then use a rolling pin and roll the dough out to where it is ¼ inch thick. Use a small plastic dosage cup (one that comes with Nyquil. Rinse it out first though) & cut out round bite size nibblers. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Let cool completely.

Chicken Balls

1-6 ounce can Sue Bee Chicken Chunks in water
Organic Wheat Flour
4 Unsalted Crackers
1 egg
Place the canned chicken in a bowl and use a fork to break the chunks apart. Add one egg and 4 unsalted crackers and mix weel. Shape into balls and roll them in the organic flour. Place on baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes. Let cool.

DISCLAIMER:

Please check with your local veterinarian first before feeding any different foods to your pets because any sudden change in their diet can and may cause digestive problems which can lead to diarrhea. I personally bake the above treats occasionally for my pets and cannot recommend that they would be suitable for other pet owners to feed to their pets.

I have never made my pets homemade treats, but they would LOVE it. And your recipes sound very easy. I may just have to treat them to one or two of these. Thanks!

Lucky puppies... now, what can you cook up for cats and parrots? (I'm passing this on to a friend with a spoiled dog.)
