Bring new life and color to your cooking space with any of these ideas for a kitchen backsplash. All of the ideas listed here are affordable and will take very little time to complete. Totally change the look and feel of your kitchen with a new kitchen backsplash! Block off some time next weekend and get this home improvement project done. You'll be so glad you did.

Kitchen backsplash ideas - # 1 Paint it!

Since paint is one of the least expensive options, it only make sense to consider it as an option. Don't use paint from the bargain bins though! Think of your kitchen backsplash as a high-traffic area and purchase WASHABLE paint. I would recommend using a semi-gloss paint that can be easily cleaned.

Kitchen backsplash ideas - # 2 Vinyl tile it!

Using vinyl tile for an easy kitchen backsplash is all the rage right now. Peel & stick tiles are affordable, easy to cut to size, and install with ease. Plus, they'll look great on the wall and are washable too!

Kitchen backsplash ideas - # 3 Faux paint it!

Use a simple sponge painting technique , a bit of tricky placment, to give the illusion of a tile backsplash.

STEP 1 - Apply ¼" painters tape over the backsplash area at a 45 degree angle, marking every 12".

STEP 2 - Work to your left and then repeat the process working to the right. The painters tape will create diamond shapes, which will look like tiles.

STEP 3 - Sponge paint the entire area, with the painters tape remaining in place.

STEP 4 - When the paint is dry, remove the tape to reveal the unpainted areas, which will resemble grout lines.

Kitchen backsplash ideas - # 4 Metal it!

Head over to your local home improvement store and look for pre-made metal backsplash panels. They are available in ready-to-install kits that require very little tools. The reflective metal panels are very easy to clean and are difficult to stain or mark.

Kitchen backsplash ideas # 5 Laminate it

Check with local cabinet and countertop companies in your area and ask if they have any scrap laminate. If they do, you can buy it cheap and they'll even cut it to fit for you (make sure to have accurate measurements with you). Laminate is an easy kitchen backsplash idea and it's washable and easy to keep clean.
