Screwing in a light bulb can sometimes need more than a pair of hands. For an indoor lighting project there are many themes one can choose from to improve the appearance and look of his or her indoor space. One of the many indoor lighting projects to consider is as follows:

Change your incandescent lighting to new high energy efficient Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs). Completing a project like this will help lower your energy bill while adding beauty and style to your home. Although you might feel you not need a hand in this project, it is important to be able to dispose of fluorescent bulbs carefully due to its mercury content. Get the help you need to get your energy bill in comfortable level.

Why fluorescent lighting you ask? Well, for one thing, fluorescent lights use a whole lot less energy to produce the same amount of light that incandescent lights produce. They create less heat and have a longer life span than the others. Producing less heat is important because that cooling effect means the internal temperature of your room is not disturbed and your cooling bill is not raised. You help keep global warming and damages of green house gases at bay.

To begin your replacement project, check all the areas that will make sense for you to have energy efficient fluorescent light fixtures. For instance, kitchens, home offices, laundry or recreation rooms are great places to begin your lighting project. These spaces need bright light that is soft and sensitive to the eyes at the same time.

You need to know how much power is needed to light your CF bulb. Take for example, if the old incandescent bulb used 60 watts, your Compact Fluorescent bulb will be only a quarter of that, which is 15 watts. Make sure the bulbs carry the Energy Star label which signifies that it meets the guidelines created by government for the energy efficiency program. To find out which bulb replaces which bulb, look at the product packet for information on which compact goes with which bulb. Another thing to be watchful of is the rating of lumen in the CFL packaging. The greater the lumen rating, the better the light put out by the CFL, and thus, the best light fixture project accomplished. Wattage information on the package will help you make your choices

Make sure that you know the kind of Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) that matches the right kind of fixture to enable it work well and last its life span. CFLs are great at spaces that are open for easy airflow. Table lamps, wall sconces, pendants, and floor lamps all will benefit from CFL conversion.

When you have identified the compact lights best for your fixtures, and have chosen the Energy Star qualified CFL that is equivalent to the incandescent light bulb you are replacing, move on to changing the bulbs.

With the help of your project partner, change one bulb at a time, making sure that the lighting emitted in the room is the kind you anticipated. Bulbs with the label of 'warm white' are often the usual to get for most replacements. Dispose old bulbs carefully. You can call your local recycling agency or garbage disposal company to get information on how or where to dispose of CFL bulbs.

By the time you complete your CFL replacement project, you will have saved a lot of money that will enable you get more fixtures to increase the beauty of your indoor or outdoor space. And, in this high heat summer, energy efficiency is a necessity to avoid the likelihood for blackouts.
