Easy Inexpensive Ways to Decorate Your Dining Room for Christmas
Fun and Low Cost Ideas to Get Your Dining Room Looking Great for Christmas
The first idea is for a 'Winter White' theme, it will turn your dining room into a snow fantasyland. For the tablecloth, use a large white one and sprinkle white and silver sequins in between place settings and in the middle, then run some garland around the edge attaching it with safety pins. Place 2 or 3 white candles on the table. If there's a chandelier on your ceiling hang white and silver Christmas tree ornaments from it, or you can hang these from the ceiling using silver or white string and thumbtacks. Use white or light colored plates if you have them or see if you can borrow a set from another family member or friend.
Get some Christmas tree branches from your tree and spray paint them white. If you don't have a real tree see if you can get some left over branches from a local Christmas tree lot. Place those around items on the table such as wine and champagne bottles, bowls of food and the candles. Get 2 or 3 miniature white Christmas trees from a discount store and place one in the middle of the table and the others around other furniture in the dining room. Trim the edges of furniture such as a buffet table with silver and white garland and white Christmas lights. Place more garland with white lights around the windows. If there are plants in the dining room wrap them in white lights also.
The second idea is for a green, red and white Christmas dining room. Use a red or green tablecloth and sprinkle with silver and gold sequins and with red, green and silver Hershey's Kisses. Place a few white, red or green candles on the table and also put a poinsettia in the middle. Decorate any plants in the room with red and green Christmas lights.
If your setting is informal then use plastic plates and cutlery, you can always find red and green plates during the Holidays at the local markets. If you plan something more fancy then of course, use your nice plates and silverware. You can also put little red, green and white Christmas decorations all around the room and as a final touch put a candy cane inside each person's wine glass.
The third idea is a typical Christmas theme for a lot less than would be expected. Start with a green tablecloth, this can be one you have already, or get a plastic one from any drug or discount store. Get some red placemats, these you can always find during the Holidays at any store, they can also be plastic or even a felt material for not too much money. Then get some Christmas decorated paper plates and matching napkins. Wrap a napkin around the silverware in each place setting and finish off by securing with a piece of red ribbon. Wrap a thick piece of red or gold velvet ribbon around the stem of each wine glass and place a couple of pieces of chocolate wrapped in silver or gold inside each glass. Next, place a few Christmas candles on the table and wrap some garland around the base of each.
Lastly, hang a few Christmas decorations, such as stockings, on the wall and hang some Christmas lights around a window or around a plant.
And there you go! Some easy ideas that hopefully can help inspire you to get a festive atmosphere in your dining room for your Christmas Season dinners. Remember, items such as garland, Christmas lights, ribbon etc... are usually already in your home, if not, they can be purchased at your local drugstore or places like Target and Wal-Mart at minimal cost. Happy decorating and have a Merry Christmas!

It's an easy way to decorate a dining room! I think I will do that one too in my mom's dining room since we are doing Christmas there this year.
watching a decorating show, I saw someone hang ornaments from their chandelier. I want to try that!
