And, well, maybe that diamond bracelet, too, but we must digress; we're here to talk about crafts...
Handmade crafts, that is, from an adoring child who wants nothing more than to make something special for mom.
Finding and helping little hands make a sustainable craft, not one that gets tucked away in a scrapbook album or drawer (though those are nice, too,) doesn't have to mean spending oodles of dollars on supplies or oodles of time on prep.
A super easy, totally-inexpensive craft moms will go "ooo" and "aaa" over is the Mom Glitter Star Magnet. This simple craft will create a long-lasting impression with any mom (or step-mom, grand-mom, God-mom, and so on...)
Materials
4 inch x 4 inch flat-sided star-shaped cutout (suggested material is wood, but this craft can be completed using foam board, cardboard, or any sturdy craft material.)
Craft Glue (in bottle, with tip)
Loose Glitter
Permanent Marker (with thin tip)
Round or Square Magnet (use raised magnet with this craft, thin magnets may not support wood adequately.)
Instructions
Help child write a sentiment on the surface of the star shape (the side that is to be the face of the magnet.)
Suggestions for written sentiment:
- "Mom, You're the Best!"
- "Mom, You're a Star!"
- "#1 Mom"
- "I love you, Mom"
- "Mom Rocks!"
- "My Mom Rocks!"
- "Super Star Mom"
- "My Mom is a Super Star!"
Using glue, help child trace a random pattern around the sentiment, filling most of the star surface.
Immediately (before the glue dries,) help child sprinkle glitter onto the glue, completely or lightly covering the glue-your choice, each will have a different effect.
Allow glue to dry. Shake off excess glitter to reveal pattern design and sentiment.
Help child glue magnet to the back (non-decorated surface) of the star shape. Allow glue to dry.
The Mom Glitter Star Magnet is now ready to gift, and certain to bring a smile to any mom this Mother's Day!
